Ashmere Software

Software built for the real world.

Ashmere Software designs, builds and maintains an independent portfolio of projects — security and infrastructure monitoring, public-safety simulation, and a passive wildlife acoustic network — each shaped by the problem it solves, not a shared template.

What we build

Four projects. Four different problems.

Ashmere is the engineering organisation behind these projects, not a single product. Each one has its own purpose, its own users, and its own constraints — and is built to stand on its own.

01Research

S.W.A.N.

“Make local wildlife visible enough to matter.”

The Scientific Wildlife Acoustic Network: privacy-first listening stations hosted by schools, reserves and communities, turning local bird activity into public, educational and research information.

  • Privacy-first listening stations hosted by schools, reserves and communities
  • Acoustic species classification with visible confidence, not flat certainty
  • Tailored tools for schools, community/reserve hosts and researchers
  • A shared local record connecting detections to specific habitats over time

02Applications

Kestrel CAD

Computer-aided dispatch and MDT tooling for public-safety roleplay communities.

A modern Computer-Aided Dispatch and public-safety roleplay platform: dispatching, police and fire/EMS MDTs, records and incident management for multi-department communities, built primarily for FiveM.

  • Computer-aided dispatch: calls, incidents and unit status
  • Police, fire and EMS mobile data terminals
  • Civilian, vehicle/DMV, licence and warrant records
  • Multi-department organisations with roles and permissions

03Security

Sentinel

Visibility, detection and correlation for servers, applications and infrastructure.

Ashmere Software's security and monitoring platform. Sentinel collects host and application security telemetry, correlates events, and gives teams a working view of what's happening across their infrastructure.

  • Host and endpoint monitoring
  • Security event collection and correlation
  • Application security telemetry
  • Incident investigation and alerting workflows

04Infrastructure

Beacon

Lightweight, open-source visibility into the services you run.

An open-source monitoring and status platform for services and infrastructure: HTTP checks, API and server health, and availability tracking, released for anyone to self-host.

  • HTTP and API endpoint health checks
  • Server and application availability tracking
  • Self-hostable, lightweight deployment footprint
  • Room to grow into agent-based host monitoring

How we build

Engineering principles, not policy documents.

These aren't formal certifications — they're the judgement calls that show up in how we design and ship.

Read our engineering approach
01

Security-conscious by default

We design assuming a system will be targeted, not hoping it won't be — that shapes Sentinel and Kestrel CAD as much as it shapes this website.

02

Honest about limitations

No monitoring platform stops every attack and no acoustic classifier is always right. We'd rather say what a system does than oversell what it doesn't.

03

Built to be maintained

Every project we publish, we intend to keep running. We'd sooner ship fewer projects than abandon ones people depend on.

04

Self-hostable where it matters

Beacon exists because teams shouldn't have to hand infrastructure telemetry to a third party just to see if a service is up.
